High place of Corbières wines and producer of Fitou, Corbières and Muscat de Rivesaltes, Tuchan has known human occupation since prehistoric times. Inhabited by the Romans in ancient times, the town became the county seat of the canton in 1790. Border between France and Aragon in the 13th century, it was an important stake in the welding of the provinces of Languedoc and Roussillon following the treaty of the Pyrenees in the middle of the 17th century.
